Power Weekend By The Light Of The Wolf Moon

My BFF Debra (the Medicine Woman and Reiki Master) hosted an extraordinary Friday evening for an extraordinary group of like-minded friends. Her e-invitation referred to the festivities as “Healing & Releasing Drum Medicine & Journey” with her friend, mentor and colleague Phil (a man of equally impressive mainstream and indigenous energy medicine credentials).  In a nutshell, shamanic drumming has been practiced around the globe for some twenty thousand years and is considered one of the oldest known healing methods. The connection between the shaman and his (or her) drum is the foundation of a healing power rich with tradition and ritual. During a shamanic journey, a shaman communes with energies from the spirit world; and in so doing, induces an altered state of consciousness in all who participate (much like the widely understood state produced during meditation).

On Saturday Debra, our friend Joyce (the microbiologist), and I attended a guided meditation led by Debra’s friend and fellow healer Judith (The Angel Therapist) http://www.goddesstarangel.com. This... the day after a shamanic drumming ceremony was beyond amazing. Today I’m meeting an eclectic group of women friends in the city for brunch.  I’m bringing Goddess Goody Bags for all, filled with Fruit Roll-Ups and other assorted goodies including glitter tattoos that I have yet to try.

Still bathing in the energies of empowered and empowering women, under the influence of the largest and brightest full moon of 2010 (The Wolf Moon), I am in awe of this incredible weekend.  My physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies are refreshed. I am pumped.

Pornography and Erotica – Part Two

There’s no accounting for taste or personal preference when it comes to sexually suggestive or explicit material.  What turns one person (or one couple) on may be a total turn off to another. That’s what makes choosing a suitable adult film so difficult. Readily available information is seemingly at a premium unless, of course, you know where to look. The abundance of what’s often referred to as skin flicks is a tasteless excuse for gratuitous and unflattering sexual activity captured on film (not that there’s anything wrong with that).  There are, however, soft,  hard core and mainstream movies available that are of noteworthy erotic quality.


Connoisseurs of adult films may be well aware of the best in classic and current X, R, and M-rated block busters. But how many of us are connoisseurs?  And what about the beginner who has yet to see a really sexy film? 

It’s in the interest of the curious beginner that I recommend Dancing at the Blue Iguana.  On HBO, the opening screen notes that the film is R rated and contains Violence (V), Nudity (N), Adult Content (AC) and Adult Language (AL).

This film is not for anyone who’s looking for a hard-core X-rated film. It’s for the beginner who may wish to ease into the world of erotica with a thought provoking movie that’s beautifully done... or for anyone else who enjoys the beauty, sensuality, and flexibility of the female body.

One of my favorite segments of the Dr. Oz Show takes place in The No Embarrassment Zone in which audience participants (such as myself – see side bar), skypers, and Facebook fans ask Dr. Oz their most delicate, sensitive, and otherwise embarrassing questions.
